Thinkbox Deadline 10.0.25.2 | 706.2 mb
Thinkbox Software Inc. is pleased to announce the availability of Deadline 10.0.25.2. This release adds support for Altus 2 and LightWave 2018/2019. It also includes many minor improvements and bug fixes.

General Improvements
- If the Repository installer is canceled during an upgrade, any existing files that were overwritten will be restored.
- Fixed an issue that prevented the Repository installer from installing a script required by the Deadline Mobile application.
- Fixed an error that could occur when connecting to a database that's using a Replica Set.
- Fixed an issue that could cause the Deadline Client applications to not clean up their memory usage on Windows.
AWS Portal Improvements
- Fixed bug that could prevent the listing of all available AMI types in a region.
- When rendering with Arnold for Maya, TX textures can now be pre-cached.
- Improved the messaging when errors occur during the Asset Pre-caching step.
- The Asset Server now writes in-progress downloads to a temporary file with its name based on the file being downloaded, instead of a random filename.
- Added log file rotation to the Asset Server. The log file is now rotated daily, and logs are kept for 30 days.
- Fixed an issue in the Asset Server when reading files on render nodes. This issue could lead to errors such as "Access Violation" when rendering with 3ds Max.
- Fixed an issue that prevented the deletion of a failed Infrastructure if the Gateway instance did not exist.
Monitor Improvements
- When the Job list filter is set to only show jobs from "me", new users that are added to Deadline no longer show up.
Slave Improvements
- The Slave now logs the Limits that are currently assigned to the job it's rendering.
- Fixed a case-sensitivity issue with Limit names that could cause the Slave to print warnings about missing Limits that actually exist.
- Fixed a regression introduced in 10.0.24 that incorrectly prioritized secondary pools.
License Forwarder Improvements
- The License Forwarder logs can now be streamed to the Deadline Monitor.
Remote Connection Server Improvements
- Improved messaging when an error occurs while responding to a request from one of the other Deadline applications.
- Reduced the amount of calls to the database when searching for a job to render for a Deadline Slave.

Application Plugin Improvements

Altus
- Added support for Altus 2.
Cinema 4D
- Added a sanity check to the integrated submitter that displays a warning if the scene isn't saving output, or if the output path isn't specified.
Houdini
- Progress reporting is now supported when rendering Wedge nodes.
Katana
- Fixed some issues that prevented the integrated submitter from working in Katana 3.1.
LightWave
- Added support for LightWave 2018 and 2019.
Ply2Vrmesh
- vrscene files can now be selected as input files when submitting to Deadline.
Maya
- When rendering with Arnold 3 for Maya, the default verbosity is set to display Info. This allows Deadline to display the progress of the render.
REDLine
- The "Export Preset Name" option now supports names with spaces in them.
V-Ray Standalone
- Fixed a bug where tile rendering single frame (non-animation) jobs would append frame padding to the tile render outputs, preventing them being assembled. I.e. Tile rendering for V-Ray standalone for single frame (non-animation) jobs will no longer fail.

Event Plugin Improvements

Spot
- The "Concurrent Tasks" setting for jobs is now taken into account when determining targets for Spot Fleet Requests.

About Thinkbox Deadline 10 Deadline is a hassle-free administration and compute management toolkit based render farms, and supports over 80 different content creation applications out of the box. It offers a world of flexibility and a wide-range of management options for render farms and compute clusters of all sizes, and allows users the freedom to easily access any combination of on-premise or cloud-based resources for their rendering and processing needs. Deadline's unique architecture removes the need for a centralized manager application by using a highly-scalable database and basic file sharing to manage the farm. As long as your Database and File Server are running, Deadline is running.

Deadline 10 is the first release to offer customers access to Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) Spot Instances that can significantly reduce the cost of running rendering applications, and help you increase compute capacity on the same budget. Starting today, customers can also purchase by-the-minute render time in the AWS Cloud through the Thinkbox Marketplace. Deadline for Autodesk 3ds Max, Autodesk Maya, Arnold, an Autodesk offering, and Chaos Group's V-Ray can all be purchased in the marketplace.

Deadline 10 integrates with the AWS Cloud to enable customers to expand their render farms - whether on-premises, cloud, or hybrid - simply and securely. To ensure that all the appropriate assets are available in the cloud, Deadline synchronizes with local servers and manages the data transfer before rendering begins, tagging accounts and instances for bill allocation. With flexible third-party licensing options, Deadline 10 customers can purchase software licenses from the Thinkbox Marketplace, bring their own licenses, or leverage a combination of the two to grow render farms elastically from the AWS Cloud.

Mike Owen covers a brief history of Thinkbox and jumps into a demo of AWS Thinkbox Deadline with Amazon EC2 Spot to help scale rendering pipelines using AWS Portal. He also shows how you can take advantage of products such as Draft and Jigsaw to help make it easier to manage your rendering tasks.
