The Foundry Katana 2.5v7(2.6v4) | 890.1 mb
The Foundry launches the latest update to its professional look development and lighting tool. Responding to customer demand, new release of KATANA will offer support for Windows, putting the award-winning tool in front of more artists working in VFX, broadcast and animation.

Release Notes for Katana 2.5v7:

Bug Fixes
- TP 197816 - Katana 2.0+ utilised an unnecessary amount of CPU time while waiting for renders to complete. Two cases have been addressed:
. A loop with a minimum interval of 1ns (Linux) or 1ms (Windows). This now defaults to 25ms, and can be configured via the KATANA_RENDER_CONTROLLER_SLEEP_USECS environment variable.
. A loop with a minimum interval of 10ms. The interval is now 200ms.
TP 276020 - Katana 2.5+ utilised nearly 100% of CPU time while waiting for renders to complete. A loop that was previously a busy-wait now uses an interval of 200ms.
- TP 272409 - The File Browser's file sequence listings were populated according to a Foundry standard, rather than using the findSequence() method of the current File Sequence Plug-in. Files that are part of a sequence according to the File Sequence Plug-in, but not the Foundry standard, appeared as individual files rather than a sequence.
- TP 278148 - When editing geometry parameters of adopted lights in GafferThree nodes, the attribute types of corresponding geometry attributes, e.g. geometry.centerOfInterest, wrongly changed from DoubleAttr to FloatAttr.

Release Notes for Katana 2.6v4:

Bug Fixes
- TP 262994 - Changes to Interactive Render Filters were not being applied when performing a Live Render from a Render node.
- TP 309705 - The LookFileBake node type captures materials referenced by materialAssign attributes, and the LookFileResolve node type tries to resolve these materialAssign attributes to the appropriate material attributes, if the assignment point to material locations that were baked. The resolve step has been modified so that if there's a materialAssign attribute which doesn't point to a material that was baked with the look file (e.g. if they're not in /root/materials), then:
. The info.lookfile.materialAssign attribute will not be set, and
. The value of the materialAssign attribute will be passed through unresolved if the value of that attribute doesn't start with "/root/materials".
The above also applies to rendererProceduralAssign and rendererProcedural attributes.
- TP 310341 - Right-clicking parameters of a locked node raised an exception and failed to show a context menu.

About The Foundry Katana. Katana is a 3D application specifically designed for the needs of look development and lighting in an asset-based pipeline. Originally developed at Sony Pictures Imageworks, Katana has been their core tool for look development and lighting for all their productions since Spider-Man 3, Beowulf, and Surf's Up!. Katana provides a very general framework for efficient look development and lighting, with the goals of scalability, flexibility, and supporting an asset-based pipeline.

Katana is used in VFX, broadcast, and animation as a post-processing tool for final lighting. It uses a recipe approach to establishing lighting, making it easier for users to establish a lighting profile that can be reused in other scenes or projects.
