CA Spectrum 10.1

CA Spectrum 10.1 | 12.5 Gb
CA Spectrum has released update version 10.0 of CA Spectrum (formerly CA Spectrum Infrastructure Manager) is a network infrastructure management software enables the modeling of LAN, WAN, wired, wireless, physical and virtual networks.

CA Spectrum can enable your organization to discover, optimize and improve its infrastructure and the business services running on top of it. By delivering large-enterprise scalability, robust features and superior root cause analysis, this solution can help your organization effectively manage its dynamic, complex IT infrastructure-including physical, virtual and cloud environments as well as network virtualization. The improved architecture of CA Spectrum reduces time and cost associated with the administration of multiple management consoles by supporting tens of thousands of devices and millions of models-increasing scalability while simplifying staff management.
CA Spectrum can help your organization improve network service levels. And by integrating automated fault management, fault isolation, proactive change management and root cause analysis into a single platform, this solution can help reduce fault monitoring costs as well. This solution automates fault management across multi-vendor and multi-technology infrastructures, tailoring information views and management capabilities to meet the needs of a broad range of technical and non-technical users.
This solution offers the visibility and control administrators need to track network availability, performance and service levels. Utilizing CA Spectrum, administrators can better understand issues that jeopardize reliable performance such as configuration changes, unanticipated events and outages. The invaluable root cause analysis integrated into CA Spectrum helps administrators identify and correct the causes of these issues and prevent future recurrences.
Cisco Wireless LAN Controllers & Access Points Support
now supports monitoring of Cisco Wireless LAN Controllers (WLC) and its connected Cisco Access Points (AP). This allows discovery & modelling of different series of Cisco WLC's & AP's end to end with complete WLC network topology with connections in between WLC, L2/L3 devices & AP's.
All WLC devices modelled are listed under new WLC Manager Hierarchy in OC Console with respective AP's listed under each WLC device for easy identification and administration.
The WLC device information tab have different views which provide insight into details of wireless configuration, access points, mobile stations, thresholds etc. The WLC devices can be monitored for different traps, events, alarms, thresholds.
Cisco WLC & AP Support Overview Testing
Test Scenario
1. Identify a branch of Cisco Wireless LAN in your network which includes at least one Cisco WLC Device, all L2/L3 devices like switches in between and AP's connected.
2. In OneClick Discovery Console Configuration, give complete WLAN network IP Range including WLC's, L2/L3 devices in between & all AP's.
3. Select "Discover & automatically model" with "Create Wireless Access Points" check box checked in Modelling Options.
4. Initiate the discovery.
5. Verify the points listed below under feedback section and then delete the WLC device and its corresponding AP's are deleted.
Note: If your wireless network has combination of AP's with SNMP enabled and disabled then repeat this test once for each such WLC - AP's combination.
Feedback
1. In OC Console the Cisco WLC's, L2/L3 devices, all connected AP's are correctly discovered & modelled with complete WLC network topology with correct icons and connections in topology view. For AP's modelling details refer to below table and mark applicable test environment.
AP - SNMP AP Model Class AP Model Type Name Test Env (Yes/No) Comments
Enabled Wireless AironetIOS
Disabled Wireless AP-Pingable
2. All WLC devices modelled are listed under new WLC Manager Hierarchy in OC Console with respective AP's listed under each WLC device
3. The OC Console shows proper or applicable information for selected WLC / AP on different panes (like Contents, Component Details panes) and tabs (Information, Alarms, Interfaces, Events, and Attributes etc.)
4. For WLC device, On Information Tab, check and verify sub views under Cisco Light Weight Access Point Protocol and Wireless Information
5. Generate traps or conditions (like AP Down/Up, AP Disassociated/Associated etc.) you monitor and check if corresponding events, alarms are generated, cleared as applicable.
6. On deletion of WLC devices, its corresponding AP's are deleted.
High Scale Wireless LAN Monitoring
Test Scenario
1. Discover 50 to 100 Cisco WLC Devices with around 1000 Cisco AP's connected (or as maximum available in your network)
2. In OC Discovery Console Configuration, give complete WLAN network IP Range including all WLC's, L2/L3 devices in between & all AP's.
3. Select "Create Wireless Access Points" check box checked in Modelling Options, and then select Discover & Automatically model.
4. Start the Discovery.
Feedback
1. Time taken to run complete discovery.
2. Time taken to render the complete wireless network topology (with connections) & models including all WLC's, L2/L3 devices and AP's.
3. Any devices, connections not discovered or modelled or incorrect
Provide the total count of actual devices on wireless network for given discovery IP range and the devices discovered in Spectrum. Note that the count may vary if devices are down or in maintenance etc.
Count of Actual Devices on WLAN Count of Discovered WLAN Devices
WLC AP L2/L3 WLC AP L2/L3
4. Any other performance issues observed
5. Capture Performance Collector Logs.
Discovery of different series of Cisco WLC and AP's
Test Scenario
1. Discover different models or series of Cisco WLC's and AP's with different software versions as available in your network using OC console create model by IP/Hostname or discovery console.
Feedback
2. Below is reference to different types of Cisco WLCs, AP's models or series, discover them as available in your network and check if they are discovered and modelled correctly and mark the rows tested.

Cisco Adaptive Security Appliance (ASA) Software Support
also supports Cisco Adaptive Security Appliance (ASA) Software which is the core operating system for the Cisco ASA Family. It delivers enterprise-class firewall capabilities for ASA devices in an array of form factors - standalone appliances, blades, and virtual appliances - for any distributed network environment. ASA Software also integrates with other critical security technologies to deliver comprehensive solutions that meet continuously evolving security needs.
Here are some of the use cases tested for Spectrum r10.1 Support for Cisco ASA software:
Failover Switching of Cisco ASA Firewalls switch in between them.
Test Scenario
1. There is a switch between two Cisco ASA firewall devices.
2. Turn the Primary Firewall Device down.
Feedback
1. Any Issues observed during switching.
2. Any performance issues observed on the Primary/Secondary firewall devices.
3. Observe whether major alarm "PRIMARY UNIT IS NOW STANDBY" on primary.
4. Bring back the Primary ASA to active.
Alarm "PRIMARY UNIT IS NOW STANDBY" is cleared on primary device.
Failover Switching of Cisco ASA Firewalls in Spectrum.
Test Scenario
1. Discovery and model Primary and Secondary Cisco ASA Firewall Devices.
2. Turn the Primary Firewall Device down.
Feedback
When failover happens on the primary device, secondary firewall device should become Active and primary firewall device becomes Standby. Text "_primary" & "_Secondary" should be appended to the model name automatically in topology.
Observe major alarm "PRIMARY UNIT IS NOW STANDBY" on primary.
1. Bring back the Primary ASA to active. Alarm "PRIMARY UNIT IS NOW STANDBY" is cleared on primary device.
Observe hardware status of the device.
2. Click the Primary Cisco ASA device > Select Information Tab and expand the Cisco ASA > Firewall sub view.
Based on the hardware status we can identify:
If the device is Active/Standby.
Any Issues observed during Switching.
Any performance issues observed on the Primary/Secondary firewall devices.
