The Autodesk product team is pleased to announce the availability of PowerInspect 2020.1 is a universal 3D inspection software and supports CNC CMMs (Coordinate Measuring Machines), portable inspection devices and other types of inspection hardware.

Geometric inspection
- Displaying tolerances: Configure the Feature Probing dialog to display tolerances during manual probing. The Feature Probing dialog displays upper and lower tolerances for points, dimensions, angles, and certain unit vectors (such as the axis of a probed cylinder). For profile properties (such as circularity), the Feature Probing dialog displays the maximum tolerance only.
Add-ins
- Electrode Inspection add-in: Fixed an issue where the alignment occasionally was not used properly.
Metrology
- GD&T Bonus calculation: PowerInspect now recognizes the feature of size limits defined by the user.
- Constructing a datum reference for GD&T True Position: Added the ability to select an Axis feature for the secondary datum when the primary datum is an axis.
Point clouds
- Labels on a triangulated point cloud are now displayed when points are hidden.
- Renaming a Point Cloud item now works correctly and does not cause the recalculation of items using it.
Protocols
- Fixed a problem that caused PowerInspect to close unexpectedly when connecting to a CIMCORE Stinger device.
- Improved measurement performances when using a Hexagon RDS.
- Mitutoyo CNC I++ connection now does not cause the error report for generation of failed activation context.
- Fixed an issue where the EnableUser command was sent before the GoTo and SetProp commands.
- Fixed an issue that caused the I++ protocol to return the current CMM coordinates without any digits after a decimal separator. For when PowerInspect is configured to display a language that uses a decimal separator symbol other than period (.).
- Fixed an issue that caused PowerInspect to become unresponsive when configured to use the I++ protocol and attempts to execute a CNC move with the target location being the same as the current location.
General
- Fixed an issue where PowerInspect closed unexpectedly while closing a document.
- Fixed an issue where occasionally it was not possible to edit a circle using a constructed plane (point-vector) as reference plane.
- Fixed an issue where PowerInspect closed unexpectedly when Run All Items on the Simulate Program tab was pressed.
- The pitch parameter for Sections now is not always set to an integer number when some specific Locale settings are used.
- Fixed an issue where exporting workplanes with names containing a quote to Autodesk PowerMill using the Delta Transformation item caused PowerMill to return an error.
- Fixed an issue where occasionally the report indicated the wrong number of inspection points in Surface Inspection groups.
- Fixed an issue where the diameter of the calibration sphere was reported incorrectly when using comma separator.
- Fixed an issue where no sound was produced when measuring guided single points.
- No license is needed to run VirtualCMM.
- No licenses are needed to run PowerInspect DRO.
- Updated the copy of the PTB certification for PowerInspect 2020.

PowerInspect offers a powerful solution for inspection, validation and quality control for all types of measurement equipment. This software can save you money by highlighting problems early in the manufacturing process minimising disruptive and expensive rework or scrappage, on machine verification, automatic collision avoidance, part alignment and stock material verification are just some of the features in Powerinspect (previously known as Delcam).
The new features and enhancements added since PowerInspect 2019.1.2.
Geometric inspection
- Probed Single Point: The Feature Probing dialog replaces the Guided Points dialog, to display more feedback about how close a measured point is to the nominal target during probing. The Feature Probing dialog displays actual values of the probed location, distance to target point, distance to target plane, and distance on plane. It can also be configured to display additional values.
Additional improvements
- New script protocol: A new script protocol for Mitutoyo Crysta-Apex CMM has been created. The script lets you use PowerInspect with newer CMM devices.
- Access help content: Several options on the Help menu are combined to make it easier to access the information you need.
Measurement can be taken for granted but it is of critical importance to manufacturing, in all sectors, including automotive and aerospace.
