This class is for photographers, especially beginners, who want to learn skills and techniques that will improve their photos. In this class students will learn how the camera sees light. From there we will explore the modes that are common to all DSLR, mirrorless, and many point-and-shoot cameras: Auto mode, Program mode, Aperture Priority Mode, Shutter Priority Mode, and Manual Mode. We will examine Exposure Compensation, a need-to-know setting. By the end of this class students will have a much better understanding of how the camera interprets light which can influence the camera settings they choose. We will look at photos that illustrate the techniques and do follow-along exercises to help the student gain confidence with modes and settings. No prior experience necessary. This class is for the family photographer, hobbyists, and for those who need to use photos in their work presentations. A DSLR, mirrorless, or point-and-shoot camera is recommended however, any digital camera is fine including smartphones. This class is part two of a four-part series, The New Photographer's Guide. Part one is all about Composition techniques to make better photos.
