The SYMPHONY SERIES WOODWIND ENSEMBLE delivers high-class orchestral woodwind recordings arranged in an elegant, supremely usable interface. Created in partnership with Native Instruments and designed for flawless integration with both Kontakt and Komplete Kontrol, this state-of-the-art virtual woodwind orchestra delivers unparalleled sonic depth and realism. It offers you a massive 36-piece woodwind ensemble sound. Control six fully independent orchestral woodwind sections - flutes, oboes, clarinets, saxophones, bassoons and contrabassoons - each with six players per section.
This library features 314 playable articulations, multi-layered true legato and sustain types, a range of staccato tonguing techniques with up to 8-round-robins, half & whole trills, sforzandos, swells, crescendos, decrescendos, time-adjustable arpeggios, and so much more. Add character and realism with an additional selection of orchestral woodwind effects - such as clusters, sweeps, falls, risers, stingers, tuning cacophonies, valve clicks and creative flourishes. Even straight out of the box, the sound is natural, full of personality, and truly huge. This library is available at a great bundle price in the SYMPHONY SERIES WOODWIND COLLECTION, along with WOODWIND SOLO. Together, these premium virtual instruments provide producers and composers maximum flexibility and the utmost quality at a fantastic price.

The Dynamics knob allows composers to create expressive real-time performances. Each turn of the knob intelligently blends across the dynamic range of each articulation for dramatic tonal shifts. And for ensemble sustains, true legato and staccatos, use the Dynamics knob to blend smoothly across dynamic layers. Turn the knob for a fluid rise from piano to fortissimo with true legato sustains for each section.
Shape your own performance with Smooth Dynamics, Attack, Release, Tightness, and Motion controls. Create instant single, double, and triple tongued attacks for sustains, expressions and staccatos with automatic Repetition control, including dynamic accenting for staccatos. And you can precisely time expression articulations to score cues thanks to a dedicated visual display, tempo-synching and/or time-stretching options for most expressions.
Our intuitive legato system gives you natural flow with expressive options. Each ensemble section offers multi-layered true legato (p, mf and f) with fluid dynamic blending. And you can play any sustaining articulation with real-time sim legato in slur and flip styles, with interval response shaping and solo/duet polyphony.
EASY CUSTOMIZATION
SYMPHONY SERIES WOODWIND COLLECTION adapts to any workflow. Assign articulations to key switches quickly and easily - all articulation types are color-coded for fast visual recognition (mirrored in detail on the KOMPLETE KONTROL S-Series keyboards). To accommodate different composer workflows, the interface provides three options for switching articulations: MIDI note, velocity range, or MIDI CC messages. If required, you can even assign each section to a specific key range to create custom key splits for a particular composition. Then easily store your settings as Snapshots for instant recall in another project. And flawless KOMPLETE KONTROL S-Series integration immediately puts key parameters under your fingertips. Created for the professional composer, the Symphony Series sets a new standard in orchestral scoring.
COMPLETE MIX OPTIONS
Open up the mixer page to craft the perfect blend of stereo master, close, mid, and far mics. With individual loading, volume and output routing for each position, you have full control over your mix - plus a range of effect options. All mixer settings can be stored, and easily recalled for other NKIs.
We give you more freedom with your section placements. In addition to mix control for each section and mic position, you also get independent pan sliders for each section and soloist. Rather than locking the sound with fixed hard-panned seating placements, we recorded the players at center stage, in a wide, well-balanced stereo field to give you freedom to arrange your way. This allows Symphony Series Woodwind Ensemble to fit seamlessly in any genre, style or mix.
INSPIRED CRAFTSMANSHIP
We developed the Symphony Series Woodwind Ensemble with Native Instruments' own in-house design team over a 2-year period to create this unparalleled woodwind scoring solution. This collection is built from over 60 hours of recording during an 10-day session at Montclair Church in Oakland, CA. We captured the woodwinds with 14 high dynamic range large diaphragm Neumann studio microphones, from distances of 1 to 25 meters. We recorded directly into pristine low-noise time-coded Sound Devices 788 multi-channel recorders. The result is an amazingly detailed and powerfully rich sound, with outstanding noise-free fidelity and uncolored stunningly vivid acoustics. We carefully mixed them down to a brilliant set of 4 optimal blends: the tight and clear close position; the well-rounded and spacious middle position; the lush, fluid back-of-house far position; and of course the master stereo mix for that perfect instant out-of-the box sound.
